Family Shout - Out
Heather Hunsucker, Trudi Spencer, and Mairead Leahy - They work so hard to make discipline conversations a mentoring opportunity for our students. While a student may be called in for a missed detention, they take this opportunity to look at their attendance to have more thorough conversations to ensure they are addressing any concerns. These conversations often includes asking the student what they want to do after high school and little life lessons. They have created a system to be proactive with students who have a history of attendance issues. Our school runs better with this accountability and mentorship.
Mr. Snavely - Mr. Snavely goes out of his way to be respectful to students who are in his office for discipline, explain the reasoning for his consequences, and point out strengths of the student. He also always welcomes mentoring his colleagues.

Student Loan Payments Begin in October
After more than three years of a pandemic pause, tens of millions of Americans will be required to make a payment on their federal student loans in October. Information on payments and programs can be found here. Leaders should consider sharing this information with staff members and encouraging them to review their options. Public Service Loan Forgiveness is a great option for Public School employees. If you have garnishments from USDOE, those will resume in October.
New Program Gives Free Tuition at Arkansas State
Arkansas State University announced a new scholarship program which would offer free tuition to the "majority of Arkansas families." The program applies to households where the income is $70,000 or less. For more information on the program, you can click here. UCA recently announced a similar program. That information can be found here.
