Note from Admin Team

Greetings Wildcat Families!

Greetings Wildcat Families,

This week we began MAP testing with our students. As I walked through our classrooms I have been very impressed with how our students are doing on the test so far. Please continue to encourage them to get plenty of sleep, eat a good breakfast and to be confident in their abilities going into the test.

I also wanted to let you know that our lost and found box is overflowing. As a result, this week we took all of the items out and put them out on tables to be easily viewed. We also made daily announcements to students encouraging them to swing by and pick up any item that they may have lost. We will hold onto these items for another few days and we will then donate them. If your student has lost an item, please encourage them to check the lost and found asap.

This week our admin team also met with each of our teams to reset some of the common building expectations. We gave reminders on some of the common building wide expectations. We are trying to proactively meet with our students in hopes that it will avoid consequences. Below are some of the items we will cover and we would love it if you could help have those conversations as well.

  • All food and drink must be consumed during breakfast and/or lunch. Water bottles filled with water are the only items permitted outside of the cafeteria. If your student brings a non-water drink (Starbucks, gatorade, etc) they will need to consume those during breakfast in the MPR.
  • No headgear (hoods, hats, etc)
  • No phones during the school day. They need to be in a backpack or locker at all times.
  • No earbuds or headphones (unless permitted by a teacher during class for a specific activity).
  • Respect for the building.
  • No wandering in the hallways before school. All students need to report directly to the MPR for breakfast or directly to wildcat hour.
  • The power of our words. We encouraged each student that they can use their words to positively impact people. We also discussed that derogatory and hurtful words are not ok.

Thank you so much for your continued support! Go Chiefs!

Matt, Jeanette and Jake

A student with three consecutive unexcused absences, five unexcused absences in a semester, or seven unexcused absences in a year is considered TRUANT according to Kansas State statues. A truancy report may be filed with the Johnson County District Attorney's office.
