Remembering Our Why
Internet Use, Social Media Impact & Safety
With the end of the 2022-2023 school year upon us, it is likely that students will encounter more free time during the summer months ahead. This additional time may include an increase in web and social media usage. While the impact of social media on mental health continues to be researched, the Whitefish Bay School District wants to take this opportunity to provide some resources to assist families in the appropriate use of technology to ensure a safe environment for students.
Social media and apps account for a large amount of the time that students spend online, and the technology itself continues to develop and grow at a rapid pace. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has partnered with the Wisconsin Department of Justice to develop information and learning modules about how all stakeholders can help support our students utilize technology and social media in a safe and responsible manner.
The following links will provide additional information related to technological safety and responsible use of social media. Thank you and be safe.
