Cool things in our school
This week I have had the pleasure of being in many classrooms, having our monthly assembly on Wednesday, and teaching Science all day on Wednesday. That is the varied life of a principal, and I love the differences that each day brings. As you will see, I was able to take many pictures of classroom activities this week as our learning, every day, continues in a variety of locations.
Don't forget! We have school on Friday, February 21st!
With our onslaught of "cold" days earlier this year, we will be having a regular school day on Friday, February 21st. The school calendar states this is a day off for students but that is no longer true. We look forward to having some great learning next Friday!

Conferring in Writer's Workshop
This week I had the opportunity to visit a number of classes. I like being in classes a lot and enjoyed my time watching Writer's Workshop on Tuesday. The picture on the left shows Mrs. Iwanski and one of her students conferring on her writing. This is a time for teachers to spend time with students to improve their writing and apply the content of the mini-lessons from Writer's Workshop. I am really impressed by the improved writing of our students.
Monthly Wednesday student assembly
One Wednesday a month, I have all of the Intermediate students in the gym from 8:45-9:15. This time allows for staff to collaborate on Response to Intervention (RtI) within their grade level teams. For me, it's a time to speak to students about The Merton Way- Be Kind, Be Safe, and Do Your Job. Here is a link to my February presentation.
Trivia Night Friday, February 28th
This is a reminder of the upcoming Trivia Night scheduled for 6:00 on Friday, February 28th at Ironwood Golf Course. Please refer to the email you received from me on January 27th for sign up information. The event is meant to raise funds for our STEM program in the district. I have included the sign up for Trivia Night as an attachment to the email containing this smore. We hope to see you there.
ActNow! Parent's website
As you are aware, our students are taking part in an anti-bullying program run by Children's Hospital of Wisconsin call Act Now! This is an online program that we use here at school. There is now an addition to this program called Parents Act Now! You can learn more about this at www.ParentsActNow.com. Please check out this site when you have a moment. We will be having a focus group some time in March so I will be asking for volunteers to attend so that Children's Hospital can get your feedback regarding the program.
