Decorate-a-Pumpkin Contest

Once again, thanks to all who participated in our character pumpkin contest. There were more participants this year. We had a total of 19 pumpkins on display in the main hall. (Not pictured: Tin Man)

Office staff, administration, custodians and cafeteria employees were asked to vote on their favorite pumpkins. Our top 3 winners received certificates and a bag of books for the classroom. First place also won a pizza party!

Fall Book Fair

Our Fall Book Fair was a success. We sold over $3,500 in merchandise. Monies earned will go to our Library Activity Fund. This will be used for AR incentives, books, and the end of the year field trip. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a success!

All packed up and ready to go. While Book Fair is fun and exciting, it is a lot of work. A huge thanks to Miss Quiroz's kids (Alexandre, Aliyah, Aiden) for helping me break it down.

Book Fair Drawing

Students who participated in the Book Fair through purchasing items or helping out each got an entry in a drawing for books and school supplies.

Congratulations to Anthony Trejo (S. de Luna), Laurenne Lucero (E. Salinas), Melany Guajardo (V. Sanchez)!

Every Kid in Every Park

For the 2nd Six Weeks, we chose our top 2 4th grade readers to receive an annual pass to any state park. Top readers had to have read science books to qualify. Congratulations to Flavia Garcia and Jocelyn Gamboa Lopez (T. Galindo)!

Austin-Sorensen Collaboration

This past week, Austin Middle School Sixth Graders came to Sorensen and read to our first graders. Students read to groups of our students in four 1st grade classes. Our first graders and teachers truly appreciated this event. Students were excited and had so much fun. Former Sorensen students were a part of the 6th grade group as well.
