Principal's message:
Message for the Week 1/3/2022
Good afternoon Bear Cub families, Happy 2022, this is Mr. Perkins with our weekly updates. I hope you all made memories with your family time together and are ready to make the 2nd half of this school year great. We are looking forward to seeing our Bear Cubs on Wednesday of this week.
January is a month full of school events so please stay informed through Facebook and on our redesigned website. Here are some highlights for the month:
Our students will have Mid Year diagnostics to measure growth in reading and math so far this year in IREADY and Mclass. 3rd-5th grade students will take the NC Check ins, while our K-2 students will take assessments in Reading Horizons.
Report cards go out on Wednesday, January 12th, if your student is demonstrating any academic concerns that may lead to retention consideration, you will receive a letter attached to their report card. Parents, January is the time of year where adjustments are made. This is the time to know how your student is progressing and work together with teachers to ensure the proper outcome is achieved.
As we return in January, the PCS board of education has made mask-wearing optional WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BUS RIDE. Quarantine guidelines will still have to be followed, so we encourage all of our staff and students to be safe in practice to prevent quarantines that will continue to result in time out of school. If you have questions, please communicate with us and we will assist you.
Parents we have some exciting news to share, for a donation of five dollars, you can now wish your student a Happy Birthday on our digital board in front of the school. Please send a note along with the donation and allow the community to help celebrate this special day for your student.
That’s it for our weekly updates. Please remember, if your student is displaying any symptoms of Covid, please keep them home and notify the school. I want to thank you for your continued support. You will find more detailed information on our Falkland Facebook page. Thank you and Let’s keep Climbing Bear Cub.
