Unforgettable Day at Huey's Hideaway
Glidden Elementary students had a blast on their first field trip to Huey's Hideaway. The museum was filled with cool play areas that transported the children into roles like aspiring police officers, chefs in a bustling restaurant, and diligent shoppers in a vibrant grocery store, among other engaging scenarios. After a yummy lunch, they had lots of fun playing at Medford City Park. It was a day full of laughter, new experiences, and good times that the students won't forget

Barbie and Hot Wheels Extravaganza: Themed Learning Day for First and Second Graders"
Excitement buzzed through the classrooms as First and Second Grade students earned their first themed learning day, and they got to choose the theme themselves. With a tie in the voting, the creative minds of the students combined two beloved classics: Barbie and Hot Wheels! The result? A fantastic day of imagination and play. The students brought their ideas to life by illustrating a vibrant town, complete with essential places like a hospital, school, playground, car wash, swimming pool, post office, police and fire station, and even a pet store. To add to the fun, they rotated through various themed stations, earning coveted free playtime with an assortment of Barbie and Hot Wheel toys. In the spirit of the day, Miss Hanson even joined the fun as a Barbie still in the box, making the themed learning day a memorable blend of creativity, collaboration, and play for all.

5K with Mrs. Hirtreiter
We've got therapy putty, geo blocks, legos, and building blocks on the scene. Imagine molding gooey therapy putty into circles, triangles, and squares – it's like magic for your hands and your brain!
But that's not all - geo blocks turn ordinary shapes into building blocks of excitement, and legos add a pop of color to our shape party. We're not just learning about shapes; we're building our own shape kingdom!
So, get ready for a month where math is anything but boring. It's a hands-on, laughter-filled journey into the awesome world of 2D shapes. Let the fun begin!

4K with Miss Hecimovich
4K has been doing some family activities during November. Students are shown with a family picture activity. Each family was also sent home a family turkey activity, where they worked with their family to create their own unique turkey for the 4K classroom door. Students had the chance to share with the class who helped them create their turkey, as well as what they used to make it.

Literacy in Motion: Integrating Reading and Physical Education in Mrs. Gustafson's Gym Class
In Mrs. Gustafson's innovative approach to physical education, literacy takes center stage as students dive into the adventures of a frog through the book "Jump Frog Jump." Students enthusiastically hop from friend to friend, joyfully exclaiming, "Jump, frog, jump!" Mrs. Gustafson nurtures their fine motor skills by engaging them in picking up tiny pom-poms with tweezers and transferring them between hula hoops. To add a festive touch, students utilize a variety of gym equipment to craft their very own Thanksgiving turkey, blending physical activity with creativity in a way that makes learning both enjoyable and memorable.
Glidden Community Learning Center
In the first and second-grade afterschool program, we made a craft for Halloween that was fun and colorful. Using tissue, wax, and construction paper, the students created bat or pumpkin suncatchers. They enjoyed the choices of colors and assembly. We also spend the first half of our time with homework, reading, and math facts. Any remaining time is spent in free play and creative building.
