As we move into the next semester of school, it is important to remember how much our students have overcome in these different times. Positive self talk is an important coping skill. The words we say and think about ourselves make a big difference when it comes to calming down. Because kids have big feelings, we want to help them develop positive, realistic words that they can say to themselves. Here are some things to try with your own student.

When should I contact the counselor?

Your child/family is going through life changes such as divorce or death.

Your child isn’t wanting to go to school in the mornings.

Your child says that she/he is having trouble making friends or getting along with friends.

Your child gets frustrated with school work/homework.

You are noticing a change in behavior with your child.
