From Mrs. Price
Buckalew Families,
I hope you are all doing well and are recovering from this arctic blast. I can tell you that these photos of Buckalew covered in snow are a FIRST EVER and will be archived in our history forever (along with many other things this year). If there are any circumstances we can help your family with or need to know to help support your child after this historic winter storm, please feel free to reach out. I know that so many of our community have had broken pipes, caved in ceilings, and water damage and it will be a process to recover. If we can be of any help, please feel free to call or email our campus.
As we wrap up this month, we would like to see your BEST student snow pictures for our Social Media, Picture Perfect Friday Video, and Yearbook. Please post them on our Facebook page or email them to tonsmith@conroeisd.net. We also celebrate Black History Month, Go Texan Day THIS Friday, and recognize our amazing Crossing Guards THIS Friday for Crossing Guard Appreciation Day. A special congratulations goes to our Salute to Educators 20-21 Winners: Teacher of the Year, Rachel Wilson; Humanitarian of the Year, Kathleen Points; and Rising Star, Audelia Cestero.
We thank our 3rd grade parents for an amazing turnout for our After School Play Dates on February 11. We look forward to our 4th grade After School Play Date March 9, our Covid-Style Modified Field Day for In Person Learners March 10 and 11, and it's hard to imagine we have Spring Break in 3 weeks.
Just a reminder, there are 2 different links below to review for success on the learning platform you have selected as a family. The remainder of the information in the BUZZ is applicable to our entire Buckalew Community!
For questions or concerns, please make sure to visit CISD's Roadmap to Remain Open, call our front office at 281-465-3400, or email contactbuckalew@conroeisd.net.
Lastly, we are so glad to be back in our buildings with your children.
Mrs. Price

Hi Buckalew Bears! I'm Mrs. Points, your school counselor. With each Buzz, I will have resources to support the social and emotional learning of our students. If your family has a specific need you would like to contact me about, please don't hesitate to email me at kpoints@conroeisd.net.
Counseling Helps Us G-R-O-W!!!
New groups are forming this month and will begin meeting the week of February 29th. Each group meets once a week for five weeks. On-campus learners meet during lunch, and virtual learners meet at various times depending on their class Zoom schedule.
Our topics include: What to do when I'm frustrated/angry, what to do when I'm scared/sad, having a growth mindset, and character traits such as perseverance, honesty, kindness, and gratitude. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at kpoints@conroeisd.net.
The deadline to sign up is Thursday, Feb. 25th. Here's the link if you are interested in having your child join us:
February's Character Trait: Forgiveness
According to the Mayo Clinic, forgiveness is the act of letting go of resentment or thoughts of revenge for a wrong we have suffered. The act of forgiving has proven healthy to a person's physical and emotional well-being. The Mayo Clinic points out the following benefits to practicing forgiveness:
With all those personal benefits, let's teach our children to forgive and support each other while we heal from life's hurts.

From our Police Department:
A few friendly reminders in regards to school zone safety and car rider drop off safety:
- Please remember to remind your children NOT to cross until the crossing guards are at their posts in the morning. The building is not open until 7:30.
