Help Us Recognize Veterans in our Community
As Veterans Day approaches, Tamanend Middle School would like to honor those who have served our country. On Monday, November 12th we will hold our Veterans Day Assembly. We would like this presentation to be meaningful not just for our students, but also for local veterans in our community. As such, if you have the email addresses of friends or family who have served in the armed forces who may be interested in joining us that morning, please send this information to Jeff Klein (jklein@cbsd.org) by November 1st. Thank you.
Parents Learning Spanish at Back to School Night
Students in Mrs. Corsino's Spanish classes prepared language samples for their parents to review at Back to School Night. The students worked in class on a dialogue and then recorded them. After recording their dialogues, they turned them into QR Codes. The parents were surprised by how well the recordings went and how easy it was to access them.

Our theme for the Welcome Back Dance is Under the Sea. 7th and 8th grade students have been helping us decorate with all sorts of unique, underwater creatures. The Next Meeting of the Tamanend Parent Book Club is November 7
Join us for the Tamanend Parent Book Club. This year, we will be reading Raising Kids to Thrive (2015) by Kenneth R. Ginsburg, MD. The book describes "the Lighthouse Parenting Strategy" in which parents balance unconditional love and high expectations with the goal of raising resilient and happy children. This book club will follow a "no-pressure" format in which the facilitator will present a summary of the chapter and open the floor for discussion. We will share resources and ideas with the goal of helping the entire Tamanend parent community navigate the challenges of raising adolescents.
Meetings are held at 6:30 in the Tamanend Library
Click here for further information, dates, and book information.
Please email Dr. Brian Caughie at bcaughie@cbsd.org if you are interested in participating.

Southside Fest--October 12
Southside Fest is a time for our CB South clubs and organizations to shine and show what South has to offer to our students and the community. Various clubs will have games, foods, and challenges that will help to engage the younger kids and build up their Southside spirit leading up to their years in high school. We also will be having a meet and greet with our marching band, cheerleaders, and football team before the big homecoming game. There will be food trucks and beverages sold, with music and dancing.
The event will run from 5-7 on Friday, October 12 in the back courtyard at South, and families are encouraged to stay for the homecoming football game where our CB South Titans will take on our rival CB East.
Please remember, all elementary and middle school students must have a parent present.
