The G-DUB Hub

January 2019

From the Principal's Desk

Each year we set new goals, look at things with a fresh set of eyes, and welcome new beginnings. This is a great opportunity at the elementary to renew our commitment that together, we will create a better future, one GW student at a time!

January is a busy month. Students will be taking mid-year assessments as we continue to use data to ensure we are doing our best for our students. You will hear from your child about taking their Fastbridge assessment within their first weeks back from break. This is our district’s mid-year screener to see and ensure the growth of all of our students.

We have been spoiled lately with some nice weather! I don't think we are out of the woods just yet. With the anticipated cold temperatures of winter, please make sure that coats, boots, snow pants, hats, and mittens/gloves are sent with your child each day. Please take the time to label all clothing. Our “Lost and Found” section will again grow after the holidays and labeling of clothing would help a great deal in returning items to the proper children.

I truly hope everyone had a safe and relaxing winter break. Our staff is so excited to see your students on the 7th.

Happy New Year!

Mrs. Nicole Nemecek, Principal

Weather Related Closings and Delays

Information regarding school closings and delays will be distributed as early as possible should the need arise. The Keokuk Community School District utilizes a number of local and regional media organizations. Many of these organizations incorporate social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, and text messages delivered directly to your mobile device to get closings and delays delivered in a prompt fashion. In addition, the KCSD offers a calling feature entitled Alert Solutions, which allows the district to dial your residential phone with important announcements; delays and cancellations will be delivered this way. For more information on this feature, please contact our office at 319-524-1953.
