The Mustang Message-Families
Weeks of September 19th-30th
Buses at Corbett
1. Each class shows the slide show that indicates each bus number as it arrives. The buses are also announced over the intercom. Students see/hear the number and then walk to the bus lane to board the buses.
2. At 3:40, students whose buses have not arrived yet are sent to the cafeteria to sit at tables by bus numbers. The tables are labeled to help students recognize others who ride their bus. They help each other as the buses are announced.
If students are engrossed in phones with headphones in, they may not hear the bus numbers or see the slide show with bus numbers posted. It is the responsibility of the student to watch and listen for bus numbers.

Corbett Game Expectations
Expectations:
Good Weather: Students are dismissed from classrooms at 3:40. They are to exit the building by the gym to the front of the school. They can wait outside the gym for volleyball games or wait by the entrance gate for football games.
Bad weather: Students will be permitted to wait in the cafeteria when dismissed at 3:40. If there is lightning, students will be held inside until it is safe to go to the field.
During the games we expect students to have good sportsmanship. We encourage cheering for CJH teams. We discourage targeting the opposing players or spectators. Unsportsmanlike conduct will have students removed from the games.

Gifted and Talented Referrals
The G/T referral window is now open for the 22-23 school year! The G/T program in SCUCISD identifies students with high academic potential, gifts, and talents and provides them challenging academic experiences, rigorous career and college preparation, and acceleration opportunities while nurturing healthy social and emotional development.
Please click on the link to complete the form if you would like your student considered for G/T services. The link will be available through October 7th for grades 2-12 and January 1st for first grade. Kinder students are automatically considered for G/T testing based on MAPs scores. When completing the form, please provide examples of the characteristics you see as this will provide valuable information during the determination process.
If you have questions about the G/T service referral process, please contact your campus G/T coordinator, Sarah Jandt. (sjandt@scuc.txed.net)
SEPTEMBER IS SUICIDE AWARENESS MONTH
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young adults and for every youth suicide it is estimated that 100 to 200 others attempt suicide. Young adulthood is a time when many people experience significant stress from life transitions such as gaining more independence and responsibility when moving from home and beginning college or a career. That stress has been amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, we’ve seen striking glimmers of resilience – the ability to bounce back from a negative experience or difficult challenge.
That’s why this September for #SuicidePreventionAwarenessMonth, we’re focusing on resiliency – a key skill to learn and develop when it comes to preventing suicide and coping with a pandemic. It allows you to face a problem or challenge, overcome it, and get back to life a little bit stronger and a little bit wiser.
Take a look at the resources below to learn how you can develop your resiliency skills, protect the mental health of yourself and your peers, and prevent suicide for young adults across the nation.
If you or someone you know needs to talk to someone right now, text START to 741-741 or call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) for a free, confidential conversation with a trained counselor 24/7.
