2. Hyperglycemia is the abnormally high blood glucose (blood sugar). This disease affects the kidneys. In cases chronic hyperglycemia, the kidneys have a constant work load with the damage excess glucose does to them. In very severe cases of hyperglycemia it will cause the kidneys to fail.
If there is too much glucose in the blood stream it can cause the arties to become blocked.
People with hyperglycemia better be picking the apple over the donut because they don't want blood sugar spikes.
Blood sugar test strips are used to calculate the level of glucose in your blood.
Treatments
There are a variety of different treatments for hyperglycemia. Some of them are to drink more water, exercise more, change eating habits and switch medications.
Diabetes affects over 8% of the total U.S. population.
