~Westmoor Update~

Week of January 23rd

Principal's Message

Dear Westmoor Families,

Celebrating Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year, also known as the Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival, is when Asian communities around the world will say farewell to the Year of the Tiger and usher in the Year of the Rabbit. Traditionally the celebration is marked by family reunions, parades and fireworks. The Chinese New Year falls on Sunday, January 22, 2023 and culminates with the Lantern Festival on February 5, 2023. But more than just the beginning of a new calendar cycle, Lunar New Year symbolizes reunion and rebirth, marking the end of winter and the start of spring. The Chinese calendar operates on a 12-year cycle, with each year linked to one of a dozen animals: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. The rabbit is the fourth animal in the Chinese zodiac and symbolizes grace, beauty, mercy and good luck.
