Wolverine Update 2.4
Thanksgiving will be here soon!
Thanks and appreciation
This week the kids will start on Wednesday reflective writing about what they are thankful for as we near Thanksgiving holiday and break. Students will create turkeys adorned with feathers of appreciation and will select one thing in particular to write an informative paragraph about. Looking forward to hearing what the kids are thankful for.
Fractions made this dinner possible!
It's hard to imagine cooking for 40 people like Mr. and Mrs. Pittman do on Thanksgiving without using math and fractions in particular when the recipes are designed with 10 people in mind. Math helps get the bird and other dishes to the table.
Jourdan Lewis pass break up
Congratulations to Jourdan Lewis for his 19th pass break up of the season. This set a Michigan record for a single season!
Theme vs. Main Idea
This week we took a look a theme vs. main idea in reading. I found this anchor chart on the web and it provides a visual reference to help get the idea across.
Coming to America and Heading out West
In social studies, we looked at cattle (and cat) herding and railroads. Upcoming topics include: immigration, Ellis and Angel Island and inventors, Keep an eye out for information regarding our "Immigration Day" simulation. Students will be assuming the persona of an immigrant coming to America from Europe and experiencing a simulation of the Ellis Island experience. Parent involvement and support is welcome.
