Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
October 6th, 2023
This week marks the halfway point of the first quarter of the school year. You should have received a message from the school system today encouraging you to check Schoology for your child's academic progress.
We also want to take this opportunity to review the importance of attendance. Attendance and academic performance are closely intertwined and chronic absenteeism (10% of days absent, 18 per year) is associated with many poor outcomes.
As such, today you should have received an automated email with attendance summary for your child at this interim point. Going forward, we will send such an email at interim and end-of quarters to continue to communicate and work together for strong attendance. This also provides an opportunity to send in notes for any absences for which a child was ill but may still be marked unexcused (code 21), and work to reconcile any errors you may notice. Please send those notes to your child's homeroom teacher.
On another note, we are excitedly preparing for Fall Family Night! We will have the event anchored with our Cultural Fair, and featuring a recorder performance from 3rd grade, art display, and many other activities. Please on joining us Tuesday, October 17th!

Fall Family Night! -- Seeking Families for Cultural Fair
Central to our Fall Family night is the Cultural Fair in the gym, which is such an important way that we seek to celebrate and highlight the beautiful diversity of our community.
We are seeking families that are interested in sharing elements of their home culture with our school community. If you are interested in sharing through a demonstration, artifact, display, food, teaching some of the language, or another idea -- please contact Shaimaa Hussien at shimaahussien86@gmail.com to register!
Update: Mr. Weigle is no longer in need of any additional volunteers to support art displays. Thank you to those who offered their assistance.
