Notes from the Office
- Students can bring food to share with other students on food days ONLY. Please do not send food treats to your child's class unless it is an announced food day. All food brought on food days must be store-bought.
- If you need to change how your child gets home please notify the office by 2:00pm on that day (750-8770).
- If you need to drop off an item (water bottle/lunch box/jacket), place the item on the cart outside the office and ring the bell. We will get it to your child.
- We ask that any checkouts happen before 2:30. Our office is really busy from 2:30-3:00 with dismissal, and we want to be able to serve you as quickly as possible.
- Please meet your walker/bike rider at the bike racks. For safety reasons, we ask parents not to wait at the yellow hall doors.
- Students should bring a face covering to school each day.

Lego Robotics Opportunity
LEGO Robotics is a friendly competition with a mix of real-world challenge. Teams of students from all different cities engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering.
During these competitions, students are building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. In addition, this program engages real-world aspects at an elementary level. We are looking for 4th and 5th grade students who want to be on the YoungLings Robotics team. In order for your child to participate, they need to have an interest in robots, computers, and problem-solving. Practices will begin after Labor Day and be on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. The Robotics Team will meet weekly until the December competition. Your child can complete the application independently using the link below. All applications are due by September 4th. The robotics team will be made of 8-10 students in fourth and fifth grade. These students will be chosen by a committee and parents will be notified via email if their child is chosen for robotics. There will be a STEM Robotics club later in the school year for those that are not chosen for the team.

Notes from the counselor
Back to School Tips from the Counselor!
Here are some helpful tips to make mornings easier for you and your child(ren)!
Make sure everyone is getting enough sleep.
Adjust bedtimes and wake up times if needed.
Prepare the night before.
Plan breakfast, pack lunches, choose clothes.
Have a designated area in your house for backpacks, shoes, lunchbox, etc.
Get up before your child(ren).
This gives you some quiet time before you have to wake them and gets you prepared for your day. When parents are calm, kids will most likely be as well.
Make a morning routine chart/checklist. Include visuals for the younger children.
Brushing teeth, combing hair, washing face, getting dressed, eating breakfast, putting on shoes, grabbing backpack/lunchbox, head out the door.
This helps your child become self-sufficient and learn routines.
Use the “When...Then” approach if needed.
When you finish brushing your hair and putting your clothes on, then we will eat breakfast.
Remain calm and connected.
Children can sense when you are rushed/stressed and they tend to mirror your actions and tone. When you start to get stressed, get down on their level and explain to them why you need their help and give them a task to take ownership of.
Try not to stray too much from your morning routine on the weekends.
