Genetic Engineering is when the Genetic makeup of an ORGANISM is altered by inserting, deleting or changing or specific pieces of DNA. Well also Genetic engineering is about scientists altering the 'recipes' for making life - the genes which you find in all living things.

Smith was born on August 23, 1931 and graduated from university laboratory high school of Urban Illinois.Smith attended the university of Illinois at Urban campaign but in 1950 he transferred to the university of California Berkeley where he earned his B.A. in mathematics in 1952. He was awarded the Noble prize physiology or medicine in 1978
