U.S. Dept. of Ed. English Learner Toolkit/Handbook Study
English Learner Toolkit/Handbook Study Fall 2016
The U.S. Departments of Education (ED) and Justice (DOJ) released joint guidance on January 7, 2015, reminding states, school districts and schools of their obligations under federal law to ensure that English Learners have equal access to a high-quality education and the opportunity to achieve their full academic potential.
The toolkit/handbook is designed to help state and local agencies in meeting their legal obligations to ELs and in providing all ELs with the support needed to attain language proficiency while meeting college-and career-readiness standards.
This self-paced, online course is offered via Canvas with participants completing reflections/questions to ensure understanding of the content provided in each module. 10 hours renewal credits will be issued upon completion of the study.
