Superintendent Student Leadership Council
Dr. Cardona's Student Leadership Council met on Tuesday, November 16. This month's meeting functioned as a Q&A session with special guests, Zenarae Antione, Head Women's Basketball Coach at TXST; Megan Mossman, SMCISD Gear Up Coordinator; and Marvin Nash, Creator, and host of The iCoach Podcast, and Co-Offensive Coordinator/Recruiting Coach for SMHS. Members of the Leadership Council took turns asking our panelists questions centered around leadership, motivation, careers and confidence. Ultimately, the hour flew by as students and adults engaged in a great conversation.
Striker Innovation Hour
Headed to State – SMHS Robotics
Congratulations to the San Marcos High School robotics team for finishing 5th in the Capitol BEST (Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) competition. Students had to design, program, build, and test a robot that could accomplish various tasks. Team members included Kaden Pena, Annie Wagner, Soumyadeep Kundu, Arturo Navarro Cano, Rodrigo Cruz, and Xylo Soto. The team advanced to the Texas BEST State championship which will take place in Frisco, TX, early December.

AMET State Conference
The Association of Migrant Educators of Texas (AMET) supports migrant educators of Texas to ensure that every migrant student in Texas has access to quality education and strives to empower individuals at the national, state, and local levels as they equip each child with the skills and resources necessary to be successful. Thank you to each Rattler Organization who performed and represented SMCISD at the AMET State Conference.

District Family Night
SMCISD hosted our annual district-wide Parent & Family Engagement Night on November 16. Thank you to every member of Rattler Nation for your continuous support and participation.
Career Exploration at Lamar
United Rentals of San Marcos paid a visit to the Lamar campus to provide hands-on learning of the different types of careers in their industry. Drivers, mechanics, sales, technicians, and other careers represented while Lamar students were given the opportunity to operate United Rentals machinery.
SMCISD honored at SM Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner
San Marcos CISD was named the Education Partner of the Year at this year's San Marcos Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. SMCISD was honored for the work implemented during the pandemic that included the delivery of food, Wi-Fi hotspots, online learning, and additional resources to the San Marcos CISD Community.

Sunday Shoutout – Nosotros La Gente
The San Marcos CISD Board of Trustees honored the 25th Anniversary of Nosotros La Gente for their service to the students and families of SMCISD at the regular scheduled board meeting on Monday, November 15. Nosotros La Gente is a non-profit organization that has spent over $250,000 to provide 25,000 pair of shoes to SMCISD students over the last 25 years.
