Dear Cardinal Family,
"Are you guys getting cows?"
If you've driven (or maybe crawled thanks to the bridge closure) down 161 lately, you've likely noticed our construction fencing. There have been a few minor changes in the plan that are temporary, but the fencing helps designate and secure the construction site. It will soon be loaded with heavy equipment and materials. We have a couple of major preliminary projects on the cusp: installing sewer lines and rerouting fiber optic lines. They will also be uncovering utilities that will be tapped for the new building. Get ready for a lot of digging.
On Thursday, some passersby were perplexed by the wooden fencing. No, we're not adding livestock to our front yard, although it is eerily reminiscent of driving west on 161 by the old OSU farm. The wooden fencing is actually tree protection. Under our site plan, there is semi-permanent, protective fencing and a robust fertilization plan for all trees that will remain on the front lawn. (For the record, there will be significantly more trees added back when the site is finished.) The exaggerated footprint of the fence prevents heavy equipment from compacting soil around the tree roots and also blocks equipment from accidentally backing into trees. I'm new to all of these procedures, but they sound like fairly standard practice to protect healthy, mature trees during this massive and very disruptive process.
So, for those of you who were predicting a new agricultural science program at TWHS, we will have to save that conversation for another day.
Have a great weekend and Go Cards!
Sincerely,
Pete Scully
Principal

**Reminder - Door 16 is the Main Visitor Entrance**
The main visitor entrance has moved to Door 16 (back, center of the building). Doors 1 and 2, along with most of the south side of the building, will only be accessible to construction vehicles and emergency vehicles. All visitors must enter through Door 16. It is our normal location for student drop-off and pick-up before and after school by car. This procedure will not change, although there is designated visitor parking and the entrance will be staffed throughout the day. (Here is a map of the property if you need it.)

What Teachers and Staff are Saying
2023 Senior Survey - Please Complete!
Dear Class of 2023,
Please complete this brief survey so the TWHS School Counseling Department can get your final transcript sent to the college you will be attending this fall. If you do not complete the survey, we will not know where to send your transcript! Colleges may withhold your financial aid, or delay your course registration if they don't have your final transcript stating you graduated.
Additionally, as a reminder to all students who took College Credit Plus classes and will be moving on to college in the fall, you will need to request your transcripts directly from Columbus State and/or Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) in order for your new college to be able to evaluate your transcript and award you credits for completed classes. You will be able to request for your transcripts to be sent electronically. Please visit the appropriate college website below to make the request:
Columbus State Community College (Ex: Comp 1, Comp 2, Intro to Psych, Intro to Soc.)
Central Ohio Technical College (Ex: Math 150, Chem 100, Math 200, Math 210, Etc.)
Good luck, Seniors! We wish you nothing but the best!
Sincerely,
Your TW School Counselors

** ACADEMIC UPDATES**
The 3Rs - Cardinal Expectations at TWHS
There are three general behavior expectations at Thomas Worthington High School: build Relationships, show Respect, and be Responsible.
We define build Relationships as “to cultivate belonging”. It is our goal that 100% of our students feel connected to at least one adult that they trust enough to go to when they really need it. From our morning greeting as each student enters the building, to each teacher connecting with each student, to our Wednesday homeroom lessons, we strive to create an environment that is so welcoming - all are inspired to learn.
We define show Respect as “use appropriate language”. We work towards being mindful of the words we speak and the immense power they have on ourselves and others. We learn that the words we say, along with the time, setting, and location have an impact on others.
We define be Responsible as “to attend and be on time to class”. We are intentional about the value of showing up, being on time, and being present for ourselves and others.
