No Teacher Left Behind
As a nation what I suggest what we do to provide consistent learning opportunities for teachers to ensure that they are not left behind in learning about new techniques and strategies is that we schedule continuing education courses for them and we should also offer compensation with the continuing education courses to make sure our teachers are prepared for any new information, techniques, and strategies. Teachers should be thoroughly trained on new technology to ensure they will not be left behind during the evolution of change. I believe that scheduling these courses for our teachers and compensating them for their time will help to give them the incentive they need and deserve. Scheduling continuing education courses for our teachers will also help to keep teachers in the classroom with students by allowing substitute teachers to fill in for the teachers taking courses. All in all this seems like it would be very helpful.
*Should all teachers across the country use certain practices? If so, what would those be?*
I believe that not every teacher should use the same practices because every child is different and learns and understands things in different ways. This means that teacher's techniques and practices should be different with each student and each class that they teach.
*Should there be a consistent standard for all teachers to meet, just as students must pass high stakes tests? If so, what would be the standard?*
I believe that there should be a consistent standard for all teachers to meet, just as students must pass high stakes tests. I believe that the standard should be similar to the ISTE standards students must meet. Perhaps the standard should be mandatory refreshing. This is where teachers must pass a state standardization test every 1-2 years to be sure that they are up to date with all of the changes in teaching.
*Lastly, share your thoughts on how well teachers are being prepared to master the ISTE Standards for Teachers standards in their classrooms.*
I believe that teachers in general need to learn new ways of teaching especially since there have been so many advances in technology. I feel like older teachers are stuck in their way of thinking and teaching and fail to model these new ways for the students in their classes. Technology is hard to keep up with due to all of the advancements over the last decade or so. I also believe that teachers need to brush up on their creativity techniques because, if they don't the lack of creativity in education will fair to be too much and this will result in the lack of creativity in humanity.
