A Note From Mrs. Doyle
Dear Peter Noyes Families,
THANK YOU!
Thank you to all of the families who donated food for our Food Pantry collection this week and to all of you who contributed cookies for the Staff Cookie Swap yesterday. We deeply appreciate your donations. The teachers all LOVED your delicious cookies. Thank you also to all of our parent volunteers. We appreciate your help at lunch and recess, during pool testing, during the Book Fair, and delivering our items for the Food Pantry. Thank you so much for your time, tireless efforts, and cheerful attitude. We appreciate YOU!!
WINTER WEATHER
Today it is just beautiful outside and the students are enjoying a warm December day, but we know the snow and cold are coming soon, like tomorrow. Please know that we go outside for recess every day and students must be prepared with warm coats, snow pants (when necessary), mittens/gloves, hats, and boots (when necessary). If the weather is excessively cold or there is precipitation (more than mist and flurries), we stay indoors for recess. Thank you for making sure your children are prepared for the winter weather. It would also be tremendously helpful to let the younger children practice putting on their winter gear at home so they can do it independently at school. When they can do this on their own, they build confidence in their skills and it helps the whole class get outside for their full recess block a little quicker. We appreciate your help developing these skills.
SNOW DAYS/DELAYS
Speaking of winter weather, you can find information related to snow days and school delays in the Inclement Weather Procedures section of the SPS website. The most important thing to note is that our system will send a message to the phone number in Follett Aspen, so be certain your phone numbers are accurate in our Follett/Aspen Student Information System. Another important thing to know is that there is no Sudbury Extended Day in the morning if there is a school delay and none at all if school is cancelled. Also, any snow days will be “real” snow days, not “remote learning days” this year. Cue the cheers from students and teachers.
COVID-19 SURVEILLANCE TESTING
For our upcoming slightly shorter week, we will be doing all our COVID-19 surveillance testing (pool testing) on Tuesday. This way we will have the results on Wednesday and it gives us enough time to do the contact tracing, if needed. Here’s hoping we have another “all negative” results week.
I hope you and your children enjoy a Winter Wonderland weekend.
Warmly,
Annette Doyle
