A Word From The Principal...
We look forward to seeing you at parent/teacher conferences which will be held on the evenings of November 11th and 19th from 3:50 – 7:15 PM. Please be reminded that Tuesday, November 24th is an early dismissal for students and parent/teacher conferences will be held from 1:15 – 7:15 PM. For the last three years we have scheduled conferences via a Google Doc which has been very successful. Therefore we will continue our scheduling format in the same manner. Please follow the instructions below:
How to Schedule Your Parent Conference
1. You will receive an email from your child’s classroom teacher the week of October 23rd. (Note: If you do not receive this email, please email your child’s classroom teacher to let them know. In this way, they will be sure to have a current email for you and resend the information.)
2. In the email will be a link to a Google Doc. Please click on the link. Please note: You will NOT have to create a google account or login to access this parent conference google document.
3. The link will open to Google where you be able to select an empty time slot to schedule your conference.
4. I you have more than one child at Durham Nockamixon, you will need to open the Google Doc links sent to you by each teacher and select a time slot.
5. If you wish to conference with a special subject teacher (Art, Music, PE, Spanish, Library), please contact them via email or voicemail, as they will be traveling among our elementary buildings during conference time and will be scheduling their own appointments.

We will have a school-wide Halloween parade on Friday, October 30th. Students will prepare for costuming at 1:30 in preparation for our parade which will begin promptly @ 2:00 PM. Weather permitting, please note that our parade route will take place on the coned off section of our walking trail behind the school. We request that all parents/visitors stand on the outside perimeter of the walking trail to provide students with a parade route along with the opportunity for all guests to see our parade participants.
We would like to share a few important details regarding our upcoming celebration:
Students are invited to bring costumes to school to put on before the party. We ask that costumes be “school appropriate” – We discourage costumes that promote evil and/or violence (weapons used as costume props are not permitted). Costumes should be able to fit over school clothes, as students will be putting on their costumes in their classrooms.
We discourage use of face paint and hair dye (these tend to get very messy).
We love when parents come to the parade in costume; however, we ask that parents not wear masks that disguise their identity.
While pictures are a wonderful part of our yearbook memories here at DN, we respectfully request that all parents be respectful to the privacy of our students and their families with regards to social media.
After the parade, students will be returning to their classrooms for their parties. Room parents have already been in touch with parents regarding refreshments and volunteers needed for each classroom. If you will be involved in setting up the party or helping with costumes, please plan on arriving at 1:30 PM. Volunteers who are performing these functions will require full clearances.
All other parents who simply wish to attend the parade or party should begin arriving at 1:45 PM. Only Act 24 clearances along with photo ID are required upon arriving and signing in at the office.

COME JOIN THE ODYSSEY OF THE MIND TEAM!
The Durham-Nockamixon Odyssey of the Mind Team is looking for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders interested in creative problem solving, engineering, performing arts, and teamwork. Quick thinkers needed! Our teams of 4-7 students will meet once or twice a week through the fall and winter to develop a presentation for the Pennsylvania regional competition next Spring.
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level.
