Simpsonville Baptist Church Annual ChristmasToy Store needs your help!
This year Simpsonville Baptist Church will hold its 6th annual Christmas Toy Store on Saturday, December 14th, 8am-12pm. What started as a simple belief that families would prefer to shop for themselves at Christmas rather than receive a handout has turned into a growing ministry opportunity.
It’s exciting to think that Christmas is two short months away! We are inviting you to partner with us to ensure that families get a needed “Hand Up” to have a Merry Christmas.
The Christmas Store invites these families to purchase gifts for their children ages 1-17 at a minimal cost. Last year we served over 160 families that shopped for 400 plus children. To ensure these families have quality gifts at Christmas, we collect cash donations to purchase new toys or obtain donated new toys. This year the requested item is LEGOS.
If you are interested in donating please drop off your legos to the Youth Service Center no later than DECEMBER 6th. Thanks so much!!

Running Titans: 2A Region 3 Meet
The Collins cross country team traveled across the county to Shelby County’s course to compete in the AA Region 3 meet on Oct. 26th. The girls’ race featured two of the top runners in the state in Christian Academy of Louisville’s (CAL) sophomore Addi Dewey and junior Kaylee Wilson. Well when the gun went off Collins seventh-grader Emma Kendall was not daunted by the CAL duo and burst to the lead. She kept a 10-30 meter lead on Wilson the whole race and won with an excellent time of 19:41. Kendall became the third regional champion in Titan history. She entered storied company in joining 12-time state champion and three-time regional champion (2012-14) Gabby Karas (’16) and Caterina Karas (’12) who was regional champion in 2011. The Titans ran their best race of the year, placing four girls in the top 15. Their fifth scorer, eighth-grader Laura Vidourek, finished in 16th place. The other Titan scorers included seventh-grader Grace Evans (5th in a PR 21:14), junior Lilly Vest (13th in 22:22), and sophomore Audrey Bucknam (15th in 22:33). This effort enabled the Titans to score a low 47 points and finish second behind CAL (26 points). This tied the Titans highest finish ever (2nd in 2011 & 2015) and set a school record for the lowest point total ever.
The boys team was led by the second and third place finish of sophomore Gabe Vergara (17:44) and senior Nolan Thomas (17:46). Freshman James Solinger also finished in the top ten (8th in 18:09). However, no other Titans finished in the top-25. So while Collins scored the same amount of points (62) as CAL, they lost the tie-breaker (higher finishing sixth-man) and ended up third behind North Oldham (53 points) and CAL. Sophomores Cole Martens and Jacob Ison rounded out the Titan scoring.
The Running Titans compete next in the State meet on Nov. 2nd at 11:30 AM at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Simpsonville Baptist Church 6th Annual Toy Store
By invitation only-contact the Youth Service Center
Mission: offer families a dignified shopping experience where we offer a hand up, not a handout.
Target Population: families that make "too much" money to qualify for assistance, but still struggle financially and could use a hand up. Single parents, grandparents raising grandkids, etc.
How does our store work? Families are given the opportunity to “shop” in our store filled with NEW toys that have been donated from the community. The toys are discounted to nearly one fifth of their retail value, giving parents/guardians the opportunity to shop for their own children at a discounted price. Our store does not make a profit, all of the money that is collected goes back into the store to buy more toys.
