Valentine's Day Card Exchange

On Friday, February 12th, Mrs. Tregear's class celebrated the magic and beauty of friendships by hosting a Valentine's Day card exchange. The students designed and constructed their very own creative card holders which took the form of mailboxes, castles, clock towers, dinosaurs and even a replica of our very own Avon School. A good time was had by all!

100th Day Fun!

Mrs. Onorato's second grade class celebrated the the 100th day of school with lots of fun activities involving 100. They created books shaped like 100, worked with their 100's chart, worked interactively on the Smartboard and listened to a variety of stories. They enjoyed marking off 100 pennies as Alexander spent his money in "Alexander Who Used to be Rich Last Sunday" by Judith Viorst. After answering some math questions, their 100's chart came in handy to place 100 Fruit Loops on the numbers and make a necklace. They finished up their day by enjoying some tasty treats.

Philadelphia Soul!

On February 26, 2016 representatives from the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Team visited Avon School. The purpose of the assembly was to get students engaged and have them participate in various activities and discussions about healthy and unhealthy foods. This program was designed to help keep students physically active and learn the importance of healthy food choices at an early age. After the assembly, each student received a log for them to track one activity and/or healthy food choice each day for two weeks. Once completed, the log were to be returned to school so the students could earn a free complementary ticket to a Philadelphia Soul Arena Football game.
