St. Peter's Postings
Little Things...Great Love! - October 2018
Faith Families and ARISE Take Off!
On August 30th, St. Peter School students and staff kicked off their Faith Family project with some surprises, fun and new friendships. Students received a personalized treasure chest with some special gifts and a colored square of paper. After exiting the building with their "Faith Family Color" they re-entered and waited for teachers to hold up posters with their "Faith Family" colors. Students found their Faith Family teacher and gathered in those classrooms to enjoy some fun games, prayer and scripture and making a "Faith Family" banner. On September 20th students and teachers sported their new diocesan "Christ is R.I.C.Hin Me" t-shirts and again met in Faith Families to talk about Respect, for "R", the first letter in "R.I.C.H." The scripture, prayers and games also included a focus on St. Mother Teresa, the model of "Respect" for all of us. Each Faith Family created a chain made of paper links on which students and teachers wrote how they could show respect. Our students and teachers are enjoying this new way to gather and feel like family in our wonderful school. Beginning In October, students will be participating in the ARISE initiative with group sharing of scripture, prayer and faith action challenges. They will meet once a week in Religion classes or Faith Families for six weeks. Check out our school video of our Faith Family Kickoff that was featured on the Diocesan TV Show, "Proclaim" on September 23rd.

St. Peter School will participate in Somerset County's annual Red Ribbon observance later in October marked by a Spirit Week and the school's participation in the annual Red Ribbon Poster Contest. Some classes also participate in the Essay Contest as well. The theme this year is "Life is Your Journey...Travel Drug Free!" This annual event is sponsored by the Somerset County Drug Free Communities coalition and St. Peter School has participated annually for the past several years.

Annual Christmas Basket Bazaar
St. Peter's will host it's very successful annual Christmas Basket Bazaar November 3 & 4 in the Parish Hall. Be sure to donate a basket or go together with other families to put together a basket for this important fundraiser for our parish. All families attending St. Peter School receive parish scholarship from St. Peter's to keep tuition costs low so in that same spirit we are asking all families to donate a basket and visit the bazaar that weekend to "give back" to the parish that loves our school into being each year.
BACKGROUND CHECKS...ENSURING SAFETY FOR ALL!
St. Peter School and Parish are committed to ensuring the safety of all children and students. To this end we recently installed a new security system on the Annex door to keep it locked at all times. We also monitor all volunteers' compliance with mandatory background checks, clearances and trainings. If any parents or family member is planning to be in the school, on a field trip or chaperone or attend any school event, ALL clearances must be on file at the school and the diocese prior to the event or activity. Information about all required clearances etc. can be found on the school website, www.stpetersschoolsomerst.com under "Forms and Documents" or you can call the school anytime.
