Sixer's Sunday School
Weekly Update for Parents, November 10, 2019
Second Sunday Pancakes proved to be a great start to a super Sunday together with Sixers! Miss Nancy says our kids are becoming quite the pancake flippers, improving every month. Despite being the day before a school holiday, Sunday turned out a big number for pancakes and Sunday School.
Today's Lesson: The prophet Jeremiah
We met Habakkuk, exploring his unique role as the one prophet who delivered the people’s word to God rather than delivering God’s word to his people. God answered Habakkuk’s complaints with the news that consequences are ahead for those who’ve been unfaithful. We found parallel examples of Habakkuk’s closing song and the words to our choir’s anthem that would close the service just ahead — both texts laced with words of God’s hope despite our fear.
God’s people are to live by faith.
Special Opportunity
On Sunday, Nov 24, our Sixers are leading in the Call to Worship. Today, they dug in to the text of Psalm 100 and wrote their own version! Ask your Sixer about some words they chose. Our Sixers are invited to lead the Call to Worship on Nov 24, the Sunday just before Thanksgiving. We need to know if your child wants to join in. There’s room for all who are interested!
Today!
THIS Wednesday, from 4:30-5:30, Sixers are invited to paint the Epiphany star, and parents are invited to cut out the third King. Meet us in the Sixers' classroom if you can come.
NOW WHAT’S NEXT: We’ll revisit the theme of waiting and trusting when we’re back together next week as we dive into the story of Judah’s captivity.
