Hello Country Dale Families,

Thank you for helping us work through our first week with all students! There were a few bumps along the way, as expected, but I am extremely pleased with how well our students have acclimated themselves to in-person learning. You have done an outstanding job preparing your children for returning to school and that has allowed us to focus on teaching, learning and the social-emotional needs of our students.

Bus Information

As we settle into a new school year, please be patient with our after school dismissal as well as the arrival of buses. For families with children who ride a bus home, please know that the estimated time of arrival will likely not be accurate. Our average departure from school has been approximately 4:15 pm each day so keep that in consideration when planning for the arrival of your child(ren). So you are aware, we do share buses with other schools so if there is a delay on the previous route, it will impact our school as well.

Parent Pick-Up

If you pick up your children after school, please consider arriving at Country Dale as close to 3:55 pm as possible. Cars that arrive much earlier than this risk blocking traffic in front of our school which then prohibits the buses from pulling into our driveway, therefore, delaying their boarding process and ultimately their departure.

Fire Drill Thursday

We will practice our first fire drill of the year on Thursday, September 17th at 9:45 am. Please click here to see the letter associated with this drill.

Lost & Found

We still have many lost and found items leftover from last year. If you are missing something, please email with a description of the item and a staff member will look for it. Any items that are not collected by September 18th will be donated.

This year we will be purging lost and found items more often so it’s important for children to keep close tabs on their belongings. It is also suggested that if possible, student items be labelled with the first and last name on it so that we can get it back to the student if it becomes lost.

HOLD THE PHONE! Literally!

As we prepare for the start of the school year, we want to alert all parents that Franklin is implementing a new attendance procedure due to the impact of COVID-19. When your child is unable to attend school for any reason, we ask that you fill out THIS FORM located as a button on the Home Page and “Parents Information” sections of your school’s website to report/excuse ANY absence. This form will require you to enter your child’s six-digit student ID number and birthdate before you can report your child absent. The form can be submitted from your phone or other mobile devices, and only takes a few minutes to complete. Responses to the items on this form will be used to enter, code, and track absences in our system. Student specific medical information collected by the form will remain confidential and only be shared within the health and nursing services team.

This form was designed to help us rapidly assess possible cases of COVID-19 so that we can mitigate the spread of the virus. After completing the form, you may receive a follow-up phone call from one of our health and nursing services staff with either follow-up questions or additional information.

To help families transition to this new system, we are still allowing parents to call in your child’s school’s absence line to report your child absent through October 2. As of October 5, this form is the only way you will be able to notify us of your child’s absence. When calling, please be as detailed as possible with regard to the reason your child is absent. If you call the school absence line, and your child is ill, it is likely that you will receive a follow-up phone call from a district staff member.

Parents will no longer be able to send an email to report their child absent.

We advise that you bookmark this form on your computer or make a home screen shortcut on your phone for quick access. The form is the same across the district and can be used for ANY type of absence.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s principal.

All 3rd graders need a recorder and a recorder lesson book for general music. Recorder Package fee is to be paid within the district payment system. The package consists of one soprano recorder and 1 recorder lesson book. The district orders these supplies and the items are given to the students on the first day of recorder lessons. That day will vary from school to school. A list of students that have paid the fee will be given to your child’s music teacher.

If your student already owns a recorder, book or both, your child’s music teacher will gather that information later in the year prior to recorder lessons.

At Country Dale, we value the safety of all students and staff. Due to COVID-19, we are taking extra precautions in order to follow the social distancing guidelines provided by the Franklin Health Department. Please read this document carefully as these procedures are different from how we have done things in the past.

If someone other than you provides transportation to or from school, we ask that you share this information with them so they are also familiar with our procedures.

Over the course of these first two weeks of school, all students are participating in a presentation about how to utilize the “StopIt” app. The motto with using the StopIt app is “if you see something, say something.” We utilized this app last year to collect reports from students for various reasons (bullying, unusual behavior, concern for other students) and we will continue to use it this year. Below is a 2-minute video that explains StopIt:
What is STOPit? (Education Version)
The apps for StopIt can be found here for iPhone and here for Android. Since the use of the StopIt app requires a password, we have designed a graphic for our building that will be placed at the bottom of every newsletter in case you or your student needs it. Thank you to all parents and students for following the motto of “if you see something, say something.”
