No COVID-19 Screening Testing drop-offs at schools next week

Due to the no-school-days next week for the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no COVID-19 Screening Testing drop-offs at schools 11/24-11/26.

To support students wanting to test before the holiday, 4J School District offices at 200 N. Monroe St will have a sample drop box set-up between 8:30am-4:30pm on Tuesday, 11/23. Testing will resume the following week with normal drop-off at school.

For alternative testing options, for asymptomatic individuals age 3+, please consider University of Oregon’s free community testing with pre-registration and walk-up options available next week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (morning only).

Spring Creek Oregon College/(or ABLE) Savings Plan Survey (Repeat)

Our Amazing Spring Creek PTO is partnering with our school to offer reimbursements of $25 to any families who are interested in starting an Oregon College Savings Plan or Able Savings Plan.

Before our PTO begins fundraising efforts for this initiative, we need to see how many families are interested in starting a college savings plan and getting the $25 reimbursement. To identify how much we need to raise to reimburse families and also to gauge interest in college savings for your child, please fill out this brief survey.

*SURVEY*: SPRING CREEK PTO COLLEGE SAVINGS PLAN/ABLE SAVINGS PLAN SURVEY

Once we know approximately how many families are interested, we'll begin accepting donations from individuals and businesses to ensure every family who wants to save for their child's higher education can begin now.

Here are some fun facts about the benefits of having a college savings plan for your child:

  • Open an Oregon College Savings Plan account for your kindergartner and get an extra, automatic $25 contribution with the Kinder Grad program.
  • Kids who know they have a college savings account (even a small one) are 2.5 times more likely to go to and graduate from college. (-Center for Social Development, WA University in St. Louis)
  • Tax-Free Growth (after-tax program)
    • As the money you deposited gets invested and grows, the earnings are not taxed
  • State Income Tax Credit (means-tested)
    • Tax credits for contributions to the OCSP
    • Up to $300 for joint filers; up to $150 for single filers

COVID-19 Vaccine Available for K–6 Students (Repeat)

4J is hosting clinics the evening of Nov. 18 and 30, which helps prevent students from having to quarantine. If a student who is not fully vaccinated is exposed to someone with COVID-19, they are required to quarantine at home for 14 days after the exposure. A student who is fully vaccinated does not have to quarantine after being exposed to COVID-19, unless they have symptoms, under current public health rules.

Spring Creek's Kitchen is Closed (Repeat)

Due to the number of vacancies in school kitchens across the district, the district nutrition services department is closing some sites and providing support from other kitchens. Thursday (10/14) was the last day Spring Creek’s kitchen was open to prepare and serve meals. Meal support from Madison Middle School's kitchen with district planned deliveries began on Tuesday (10/19). Breakfast and lunches (including hot lunches on scheduled days) continued as planned. Meals were transported in warmers and delivered to our school daily. This will continue until vacancies can be filled across the district and staffing restored to our kitchen at Spring Creek.
