School-Wide Grace & Courtesy Focus

The language for identifying/naming ASSERTIVENESS in "The Self-Awakened Child" series by Jonathan Wolff:

  • When I ask for what I need or want, I am being Assertive.
  • When I do or say the right thing--even when it's hard--I am being Assertive.
  • When I say "no" to someone who tries to hurt me or someone else, I am being Assertive.

Ellis Showcase Video

As part of the SCCPSS Virtual Student Success Expo, Ms. Angie and her Erdkinder Communications classes created a video to highlight what makes Ellis so special in our district.

Please take a moment to view this video and share it with your family/friends. Several teachers and students are featured as well as photos of some of the things that happen here at school. The top three schools in the district whose videos get the most views will win useful technology prizes.

Thank you for your help and support!

Charles Ellis Montessori Academy parents and families,

Our Dance Fit Fundraiser kicks off on February 9th. This program will teach students valuable character traits and help our school raise funds for our students and staff.

Leading up to the Celebration Event Day, on February 17th, students will be able to get donations from anywhere in the world for the number of minutes they dance on the day of the CEMA Bobcat Dance Fit.

You can get a head start TODAY by registering your student on MyBooster.com. Click HERE to learn more!

Key Dates to Remember:

Carnations For Sale!

The Explorations (Spanish, Technology, Music, Band, STEM, P.E., and Art) team is selling carnations this year in support of the STEM program. We are selling the carnations online and in the building.

If you are buying online, you can pay at this link then make sure to fill out this Google form so Coach Lesley knows who the carnation is to, who it is from, and where to deliver the carnation (in the building).

If your student wishes to purchase in-person, please send them to see Coach Lesley in the MPR.

The deadline to order is Sunday, February 13th.

Carnations will be delivered to students on Monday, February 14th.

District Honor Band

Congratulations and best wishes go out to four Ellis students (Max Allahverdi, Max Bailey, Walker McCarn, and James McCarn) who will be performing tomorrow, February 5th, in the District Honor Band Concert.

They worked hard for this accomplishment and we know that they will represent Ellis well!

Help Send Our Montessorians to Nashville

Several of our teachers are spending their own money and vacation time to attend the American Montessori Society conference in Nashville, TN on March 17-20th.

An Ellis parent has taken the initiative to create a GoFundMe campaign to help these teachers offset the cost of the trip. If you would like to donate, visit the GoFundMe website.

Counselors' Corner

Please reach out if we can be of assistance to you and your family. Your input helps guide school counseling program activities, better serving the needs of our community. Resources are available on the School Counseling Website including a list of mental health professionals and relaxation activities. Please reach out if you need anything additional.

*NEW* Student Illness Notification Form

In an effort to expedite the student illness reporting process, an Ellis Student Illness Notification Form has been created that you will be requested to fill out when your student is feeling ill. This form will take the place of calling/emailing Nurse Chris.

After we receive your form response, a member of the Ellis Covid Contact Tracing Team will contact you. Do NOT bring your student to the school building before an Ellis staff member contacts you.

Contact Tracing Team:

Rebecca Burkhart (rebecca.burkhart@sccpss.com)
Wes Cooper (wesley.cooper@sccpss.com)
Lisa O'Donnell (lisa.odonnell@sccpss.com)
Beth Whalen (elizabeth.whalen@sccpss.com)

In addition to completing this form, please contact your student's teacher so that they are aware of the situation and so that they can provide you with information about school work your student can do at home, if appropriate per the situation.

This form is available for future reference on the Ellis website.

The Bobcat Roar

Each week, students in Erdkinder Communications classes produce weekly announcements for our school. Students write the script, build the music, record and edit the narration, as well as create a slideshow kiosk which is on display in the Media Center and online.

Visit The Bobcat Roar to catch the latest episode!

Lost & Found

You can view the current lost and found items at this link.

If you recognize an item, please tell your student to go to the ramp outside the multi-purpose room (MPR) to retrieve their item. Please leave the hanger.

Thank you for your help!

Car Rider Dismissal

Dismissal begins at 2:55pm. We usually get through the car rider line by 3:15pm. There should not be anyone waiting in the car rider line before 2:30-2:45pm.

Please note: Savannah PD and/or campus police may start issuing tickets to anyone who is "stacking" or blocking parked cars on 49th Street. This is a safety issue...emergency vehicles must be able to get down the street, if needed.

Thank you for your help and cooperation with this matter.

Yearbook Pre-Orders

The 2021-2022 Ellis yearbook is now available to pre-order for $20. It is highly recommended that you order now to secure your copy as we will have a limited quantity of extra copies when they are delivered.

Use this link to order your copy today!

From the Clinic

Please review the flowchart on the Nurse's page of the Ellis website.

If your student has been vaccinated for Covid-19, please send a copy of the vaccination card to Nurse Chris and Mr. Wes (wesley.cooper@sccpss.com) for our records.

Please note:

Nurse Chris' email address has changed to christine.oboyle@sccpss.com

If your student is classified as a "Close Contact" with someone who has COVID-19 at school, you will receive a phone call from someone on the Ellis Contact Tracing team.

  • If your student is vaccinated and identified as a close contact, you will be notified, but you will not need to pick them up right away.
  • If your student is NOT vaccinated, you will be asked to pick them up immediately.
  • Whether your student is vaccinated or not, you will be sent a letter via email outlining further instructions including when you should get your student tested and how long they should quarantine. You can view that letter template on the Nurse's page of the Ellis school website for your future reference.

PLEASE make sure that you correct contact information (both phone numbers and email addresses!) on file in PowerSchool.
