Ebert Updates
Dear UMAC Parents,
It was so nice to see so many of our UMAC friends at the Winter Carnival this weekend! It is such a special family event! Thank you to all of our families who contributed to its success!
Can you believe this is the last week in our second trimester? Here are a few questions we will be asking our students this week as they reflect on their academic goals.
Are they are on target to surpass their WEB reading?
What tools are they using to prove their thinking as writers?
In math, what is challenging? What are they proud of as a math student?
What study skill has supported their learning?
We appreciate your support as we continue to set our goals high!
Have a great week ahead!
Sincerely,April Ebert
Shared Reading
This week, we will be reading the book titled, “Rose Blanche” written by Roberto Innocienti. This story is told during World War II and shares the story of a young German girl as soldiers arrive in her town.
Through our discussions and the text, our students will begin to learn about this time in history.Math
Our new friends are going to add, subtract and multiply fractions this week. We will be looking for ways to apply fractions to our real world situations. There will be many word problems for us to challenge our thinking!
Old friends are doing a great job utilizing all the skills they have learned so far as they analyze a variety of story problems to determine solutions. This week we will practice writing word problems and rounding to determine if the answer is reasonable.
