A super big thank you to Jordan's mom for coming and being our Mystery Reader. She read some of my favortie authors and I know the kids had a great time. We really enjoyed the blueberry muffins too!
Dr Seuss Day or Read Across America was so fun! We loved getting to go to Mrs. Warriner's class and share time with the middle schoolers! The kids all looked so darling in their Seuss outfits! Mrs. Warriner really made it special by dressing as the cat in the hat and setting her room up to provide lots of space. I know Eric (Brayden) was bursting with pride! Thank you!
We also really enjoyed our assembly on no bullying. The group was very funny and sent the message loud and clear. We are blessed with such a great PTA to provide opportunities like this.
Open House was a huge success! Thank you to everyone for coming out! It was so fun to see all of you. I did make it to my daughter's concert on time too! Nothing like being double booked every night of the week!
SWIMMING is what I am sure is on everyone's mind right now. This is going to make for such a fun week back to school. Please be sure they have a "just right sized" tote bag to carry their belongings in. Go ahead and pack their items to change into after swimming in it. I suggest putting them in a zip lock back or grocery sack so they will stay dry. Remember we are dealing with 7 and 8 year olds, so things get set down in puddles, dropped in puddles, etc. Nothing like wearing wet undies the rest of the day! Yuck! So a tote bag with dry clothing to changed into, an extra plastic bag to put wet bathing suit and towels into, a comb/brush, and 2 towels. They can bring tennis shoes and socks to leave in the classroom for when we get back, but I prefer they wear flip flops or sandals to the pool. Last year there were tons of wet socks, missing socks, and shoes everywhere! Flip flops will fit nicely into their tote bag. Label everything! EVERYTHING! They need to have their suits when they come to school under some sort of clothing. I know it says goggles are optional, they have a bunch their for them to borrow, but if you can have them bring their own and have the strap adjusted and have them labeled with their name, BOY will it save me lots of time from running around adjusting straps for everyone. The kids will be placed into ability groups. They will wear life jackets as needed. They will be going under, getting their face wet, jumping off the side and diving board. They will learn rescue techniques for themselves and to help someone else. This is an awesome course and we are so very fortunate to get to go! 2 lakes and countless pools can spell out disaster for kids that don't know the basics. Thank you for your help in making this a successful week. Don't forget a big breakfast, BIG snack to eat at 10:15 before we leave and a plentiful late lunch. They will be hungry and tired! I will keep our afternoons pretty low key.
Notice April 14 as a new date added. You won't want to miss it!
I hope your spring breaks have been fun and full of great family time!
