Math, Science, and Social Studies
Math-Needless to say, we have not been moving through the curriculum quickly over the last 3 weeks. My update each week, at the point, seems rather redundant. Hopefully the winter precipitation is over for the year!!
With testing this week on Tuesday-Thursday, our class times will be rather short for actual instruction. Our focus this week will be completely on fractions. We will be adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators, adding and subtracting fractions including from 1 whole, and solving word problems by adding and subtracting fractions. These skills should be relatively easy for students because we have been adding and subtracting fractions daily for 3 weeks to be prepared for PARCC testing.
There will be homework this week. Homework will go home on Tuesday and will be due on Friday.
Reading, Writing and Word Study
Reading: We will continue our Mythology unit. We will continue looking at comparing and contrasting, character traits, theme, and summarizing. In addition, students will be updating reading journals and their "Readbox" this week.
There is NO fluency homework coming home for this week!
Writing: We will FINALLY finish publishing our Sacajawea essays this week!! :)
