How many people came to dig gold and where were they from?
People came from far and wide.
Between 1851 and 1860, an estimated 300,000 people came to Australian colonies from England and Wales, with another 100,000 from Scotland and 84,000 from Ireland. Gold seekers from Germany, Italy and North America also made the journey to Australia in search of gold.
Eureka's War
The miners who didn't have license for digging up gold will be punished by the soldiers and the government. The miners have to pay 1000 pounds to the government.

The Eureka flag represents how the "Downtrodden" in Australia could fight. Downtrodden means oppressed or treated badly by people in power.
Eureka soldier's guns
This is the gun that the soldiers used to punish the miners who didn't have a license for digging up gold. The soldiers will get the gold that the miners have digged up.
