Do 5 Things
'Tis the season: the season when we all feel like we can't quite keep up; the season when it's hard to see the forest for the trees; the season when I start telling myself, "you can only eat the elephant one bite at a time. Back to school, Fall sports begin, we're adjusting to new habits and routines at home, new habits and routines at work, grade level teams are learning to work together and figure out the most effective division of labor, it's a tough time ya'll. We are so fortunate to have supportive colleagues throughout our building, but it's also important that we take steps ourselves to try and make things better. I am so guilty of allowing myself to become paralyzed when I feel overwhelmed-I don't feel like I can accomplish it all, so I get stuck.
I found this blog post on Cult of Pedagogy that was helpful to me and I thought it may be helpful to you all as well. Read through it for the specifics, but the short of it is, commit to yourself to tackle 5 small things. It might lead you to feel motivated to do more, it might lead you to relax on the couch-either way, you've accomplished something!
