Here We Go! Testing Starts Monday!! We Got This! :)
TESTING, TESTING...
Testing Reminders for Students:
- Remember to get plenty of sleep each night before a testing day.
- Remember to eat a healthy breakfast each morning.
- Remember to arrive to school on time each day.
- Remember to take your time and do your best work.
- Remember to be a text detective - look back for clues in the text.
- Remember to read all of the answer choices.
- Read and reread the questions. Carefully follow all directions. Look for key words in the question that may help you answer correctly.
- When you are stuck, elimate answer choices that you know are not correct, reread the text, and choose the answer that makes the most sense.
- If you are unsure of a word, raise your hand for help in pronouncing it.
- It's okay to flag a question to come back to later.
- Don't stress - be a STAR: Stop, Take a deep breath, And Relax!
- Always check back over your work when finished, retry any flagged questions, and make sure everything represents your best effort.
Testing Tips for Teachers:
- Pump your students up for the test. Keep things positive and encourage them to do their best. Let them know that you believe in them. Remind them that is the perfect time for them to be proud of themselves and show off all they've learned this year! The video links below have great motivational lyrics for students that they can sing and dance to.
- Please make sure hallways are completely quiet during testing to allow all students the opportunity to do their best without distractions.
- Take a restroom break before the testing sessions begin.
- Make sure your classroom seating arrangement follows testing protocols.
- Have students quietly read when finished or lay their head down. Save after testing activities for when everyone is finished testing so that students do not rush to do a preferred activity.
- Keep track of students absent on each testing day.
- Allow for short, scheduled breaks to take a walk around the playground, do some yoga, etc.
- Don't stress - have fun!! We got this!!
Also, don't forget to take a peek at the button below the videos for some MAP resources to help motivate our students to do their best on the tests. There are ideas on how K-2 students can help spread the love, too!
