Important Notables!
Taste of Autumn: Have you bought your Taste of Autumn tickets? Support our Hobart Education Foundation. They do so much for our schools. This year it takes place on Sept. 22 and is at the Ambassador hall. Would love to have several tables of Joan Martin School.
Digital Portfolios- A shout out to 5th grade for utilizing Tammy May and having her come in to assist with the student portfolios! Great Job!
Joan Martin’s PBIS Brickie Points- Classes can earn up to 12 points a day for following Brickie Expectation Procedures. Points will be collected at the end of the day every Friday.
College Go! Week (9/26-9/30)- Please make sure that you have a lesson planned for college go week. For example: 3rd grade is going to take pictures of our kids holding a sign that says "I want to be __________ when I grow up, and I want to study at __________." They will discuss different colleges throughout the week, and teachers will share their college experiences with students. Then we will hang the pictures on the bulletin board. 5th Grade is going to have students write letters about their life after college. What college they went to, where they are currently working, how long they went to college for, and what they majored in. They will have the students share the letters in class.
Emails: Make sure not to use student names in emails. Use initials or call if sensitive.
Student Forms: Create an incentive in your classroom to get all beginning of the year forms turned in.
504's: You will be receiving an invite next week if you have a student with a 504 for a parent meeting to rewrite the 504 for this year.
Conferences: Do you have students you are concerned with academically or behaviorally? We are more than happy to sit in on the parent conference.
Journaling: Are you using your Five Minute Journal?
Writing Practice: Constructed responses should be started very soon in your classroom.
AdvancEd: Part of our Advanced Ed plan is to be using articles of the week in our classrooms. Have you tried using Newsela? Utilize Tammy May. She is our district expert.
Chromebooks- Chromebooks should be brought in daily in the clear backpack charged and ready to go. Students cannot call home to get Chromebooks and parents cannot drop them off. If a child forgets their Chromebook they will receive a warning and then lunch detention on subsequent offenses.
