CES HAPPENINGS
It is almost May! How did that happen? We have a busy month ahead at CES.
This month state testing begins for students in Grades Third through Sixth. Your student's teacher will let you know the dates. Most are testing starting the week of May 9th and May 16th. It is important to be sure your child is rested and in attendance. We appreciate your support in preparing your child.
Bike Rodeo also returns to CES on May 23rd. This event will take place after school at 3:00 PM and students need to bring their bike and be accompanied by an adult. We are excited about our partnership with California Highway Patrol and Bodfish Bicycles that help us bring this event to our students.
Gratefully,
Mrs. Fischer and Ms. Crowther

A Message from Ms. Whalen
Dear Chester Elementary Families and Staff,
I am so honored to have been selected to be the new Vice-Principal and Athletic Director at Chester Junior and Senior Highschool. I look forward to working with the outstanding teachers, staff, students, and families at CHS.
With this fantastic opportunity, I am sad to be leaving Chester Elementary School. It has been my profound privilege to be working alongside the most dedicated and passionate staff. Since starting at CES in 2016, I have grown so much as a professional educator. I wish to convey my deepest thanks to all CES staff and families for the years of support and inspiration.
I am a person of two worlds. At a young age, my family and myself moved to New Zealand where I attended high school and University. I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Arts Degree from the University of Auckland. Currently, I am attending Chico State University working to obtain my administrative credential.
Currently, I am teaching sixth grade at CES. I am looking forward to finishing this year
with my wonderful students. It will be a surprise for them that I will be following them next year over to the high school. I look forward to the growth and leadership this new position provides.
Sincerely,
Meghan Whalen
Thank you to Second Grade for Being Green!

Masking Updates
The chart below will be located on each entrance of all sites to assist our stakeholders understanding of the current guidance.
Our schools continue to take collective actions, including maximizing ventilation, providing access to personal protective equipment as well as testing and vaccination opportunities. We will continue to work closely with our partners at Public Health and to provide our school leaders access to the most current guidance and information to guide decision-making. Additional information on State guidance can be found here.
As we move toward the end of another challenging school year we appreciate everyone’s patience and resilience.
Volunteers on Campus
Volunteers on campus
CES values our volunteers who help us so much. This year, in addition to the paperwork that volunteers complete we will be requiring
proof of vaccination
Or a weekly Covid test
and be fingerprinted (this can be done at the District Office in Quincy)
You are considered a volunteer if you come in consistently to assist at school in your child’s class. Field Trip drivers or parents that help for one event are not considered volunteers in this circumstance.
Testing will occur on campus once a week starting in early October but one can get a test result from anywhere convenient. The “quick test” AKA antigen will be the test provided at the school. At this time, over the counter tests will not be accepted.
