Awesome Tips to Make Group Projects Easier! #ThursdayThoughts
As a Business student, you will have A LOT of group projects! Here are some helpful tips from your fellow classmates on how to make these projects easier to do:
- Communicate with your team using the Slack App: This is a great app that a lot of startup businesses are using - great way to keep in contact with group members.
- Meet-up Virtually: If you can't all meet together in person, at least arrange to talk as a group! Trying to share your thoughts or feedback via email or text is difficult and takes a long time. Everything can be processed faster if you talk together. Options to use are: Slack (mentioned in #1), Google handout, Skype, or Facebook chat.
- Use www.Doodle.com to find meeting times that work for everyone: Stop using emails or text to ask everyone when they can meet. Use this free and super easy website to find the times that everyone is available.
- Take a video of your practice presentation & reflect: This is a FANTASTIC way to not only practice the presentation as a group, but also to reflect on your body language and other important non-verbal communication. You can also see if you are speaking too soft, making good eye contact, or maybe fidgeting too much. How you present is equally important and often part of your project grade!
- Use Google Drive for file sharing and writing reports together at the same time: Making sure group members are using the MOST CURRENT version of a paper or presentation is always hard. Use online sharing such as Google Drive - you can edit a paper at the same time with your other groups members!
- Celebrate Together! Many times we work with our group and then once the project is over we don't hangout. However, you all just worked really hard ! Go out and celebrate that good grade! Building connections and networks while you are student now - with your fellow Business students - is a great place to start! You never know if you might need your group member's help later on for job hunting or sharing ideas, etc.!
