Our Classroom Newsletter - February
A Note From Ms. M
Happy February! We made it through the long month of January. We have a busy month coming up. Conferences are Feb. 9th and 10th. If you would like to schedule a conference, please let me know. I’m happy to meet and discuss your student’s progress
Good to Know
Valentine’s Day is coming! Students are welcome to bring in Valentine cards. We currently have 19 students. Please just have your child fill out the “From” on the card. This will make it easier for everyone to pass out their cards. We will have a little party at the end of the day and students are welcome to bring in a treat/snack to share (no cupcakes and peanut free please).
As a friendly reminder, toys and stuffed animals are not allowed at school, unless specified. Please help us have a good start to our day so we are not distracted.
ELA (English Language Arts)
We are working on building our reading skills from cvc words to sentences. We are also starting to challenge ourselves and working on reading decodable paragraphs. Students are also building our comprehension skills so that we understand what we are reading.

Math
We are working on adding numbers to 10. We are showing that we can represent a whole number in multiple ways. Students are working on solving these problems using a variety of strategies. They are using these skills to solve addition story problems!
Students are enjoying work on ST Math during computer time in math.
Writing
We are starting narrative writing. Students will work on creating a story with a beginning, middle and end. We will learn how to use transition words: first, then, last and adding a problem and a solution to our stories.
