Weekly Update

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving weekend is here! We hope that families have a relaxing and happy weekend, whether at home or travelling.

With the beautiful weather this week, many classes have been taking their learning outside: some classes have been doing 'community walks' to observe the fall changes, collect items that are signs of fall, and then document their learning in the classrooms. Classes who are exploring patterning in mathematics have been finding examples of patterns in plants and animals. And we see beautiful artwork and creativity in our hallways, inspired by the gorgeous autumn colours around us. We do live in an amazing part of the world!

Thank you so much to our amazing Parent Council, who have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that our hot lunch program got up and running smoothly. Milk delivery began on Tuesday: we thank everyone for their patience, and will ensure that the milk that had been pre-ordered for Monday is taken into account.

Good luck to our Cross Country Running Team, who will compete at Fort Henry on Wednesday. Thank you to Mme Fox, Mrs Mace, Mme Belanger, Mme Gallupe and Mrs. Davey for supporting the team during their weekly training runs. Go Hawks!

Intermediate students are invited to tryout for the Volleyball Teams. Tryouts will be before school, from 8:15-9:15. Girls' tryouts are on Wednesday, October 16th and Monday October 21st; Boys' tryouts are on Thursday, October 17th and Tuesday October 22nd. Teams will be announced on Friday, October 25th and the practice schedule will be shared the following week. Good luck, Grade 7 & 8s, and thanks Mr. Morrison!

Our Primary District Learning Classroom will be having a small fundraiser on the next 2 Fridays to raise money for sensory items and field trips. Popcorn will be sold for $2.00 a bag during morning and afternoon recesses on October 18th and 25th.

We are so proud to have raised over $1100 for the Terry Fox Foundation! Thank you to all of our families for their generosity....today, as promised, we changed our look and now have green hair! M Jacques did not have to shave his head, but as he is always a great sport, he is now proudly wearing green hair too :)

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mme Peart and Mrs. Davey

James R Henderson Parking Guide

Drop off and pick up times are very busy, and we want to ensure the safety of all of our students and their caregivers as they enter and exit the school. Please consult the Driving and Parking Guide below to see where there are safe, designated parking spaces that are all within a 3 minute walk to the school. The area directly in front of the school is a designated student drop off zone: you must remain in your vehicle and are permitted to stop for a maximum of 3 minutes. A reminder that parking is not permitted on the shoulder of Roosevelt Drive opposite the school, and that the City of Kingston will be enforcing this no-parking zone. Thank you for ensuring that you help to keep everyone safe by respecting our drop-off and parking guidelines. A reminder that supervision on the yard is from 8:55 until the bell rings at 9:15.
