Grateful Heart...
I am grateful for...
....Tracey Lafara, who organized and executed STAAR flawlessly. Her calm demeanor permeated the preparation and days of testing, which kept the stress at a manageable level.
...Johna, for managing the science lab materials and all the accompanying details that go along with it. Just recently, she had to complete a multi-page lab safety form, and I know she's been working on replenishing supplies for the lab too.
...Rion, Johna, and Sam who have dealt with a difficult situation all year and done so with grace and amazing attitudes.
....Julia, for opening the doors of her classroom to parents and grandparents. By using an online art portal, students are able to make their work and their thinking available to the outside world. She's received thanks and appreciation from around the country.
...Tracey Stone, who shows enormous resourcefulness and initiative in dealing with families and community members who have questions. She listens to things being said in the office and files it away until someone asks a similar question, and then she's able to answer with patience and kindness.
...Jennifer Black who has been able to finish an incredible number of evaluations at the end of the year.
Bright Bytes- required and I'm sorry!
I don't think you overlooked this. I got the email and assumed it went to everyone so you knew about it, but I don't think you did! Please be sure 3-5 students do it this week before they leave. There's also a survey for teachers
Bright Bytes Technology Survey
The window opened on May 14th and will be open until the last day we have teachers. There is a survey for teachers and one for students. I have sent the unique URL for each survey to the campus principal. Here's the current status:
Not yet started:
BCE, GHS, GHES, CTMS, Coll Acad, GMS, HES, HMS, iUP, SLES
We're not alone in not having started, but it's got to be done. Grades 3-5 for students, all teachers. I understand 5th graders turned in devices, so a quick trip to the computer lab may be required.

Walking the halls
Used school supplies
My husband started a charity about 18 months ago that helps underprivileged women in Ghana. Long story short the charity provides them with businesses and mentoring so they can help themselves instead of relying on handouts.
Through the women, he got to see the precarious situation of the school their kids go to.
They would like to collect unused school supplies to send to further support their work. We'll set up a collection spot somewhere in the building. If you wouldn't mind mentioning to your kids and parents as they're cleaning out desks, bookbags, and other things that would be very helpful. We're so blessed and have so much that we often forget about people in the world who can use things we see no use for. They are hoping to collect a bounty of used supplies that can be sent to Ghana.
