Dress Code Reminder
Student dress code: In order to create a safe and effective learning environment, students are expected to meet the follow expectations regardless of gender:
1. Students are expected to show good daily hygiene.
2. Students can wear clothes that are appropriate, safe and free of inappropriate logos, slogans, phrases, words, symbols, and/or suggestive images.
3. Students can wear clothes that cover all their undergarments.
4. Students can wear clothes that may not be seen through.
5. Students can wear hats, hoods, or headdress with permission on certain days or activities only.
6. Students can color their hair and/or have facial jewelry as long as it is deemed to be non-disruptive to the learning environment to be determined by the administration and/or classroom teachers.
7. Students can wear shorts that appropriately cover all areas when engaging in regular school day activities, to be determined by the administration and/or classroom teachers (as long as their arms extended into a fist is a good rule of thumb).
8. Students can wear skirts that are as long as their arms extended to their fingertips and appropriately cover all areas when engaging in regular school day activities to be determined by the administration and/or classroom teachers.
9. Students can wear shirts that cover their chest, stomach, and back while engaging in the regular school day activities, to be determined by the administration and/or classroom teachers.
10. Students can wear tank tops that cover their chest, stomach, back with straps that are wide enough to conceal the majority of their shoulders (3 fingers width is a good rule of thumb).
If you have questions about whether a garment would be school appropriate, the administration would be happy to verify prior to wearing said garment.

Charma Glitzke - 8th Grade Science
Charma is starting her 10th year at SMS. She teaches 7th and 8th grade Science. Charma is also one of the sponsors of National Junior Honor Society. She is a Colorado native and loves to spend time in the mountains. When she is not at school, she can be found spending time with her husband Michael and her two children Hope (10) and Xavier (6).
Rachel Hariri- 8th Grade Science
Joined the team 2 years ago and teaches 8th grade science and 2 electives of Forensic Science and Psychology and the Brain. Married, strong faith, and has high expectations for herself and her students. So kind, generous with her time and her knowledge of science.
David Harrison- Personal Finance | Social Studies
David is in his first year at Severance Middle and 10th year overall. He teaches American and World History as well as Personal Finance and an intro to Personal Finance class. David is from Virginia and loves to be active and moving. He and and his significant other Ana enjoy exploring all that this wonderful state has to offer!
Ronda Hatton - 8th Grade Advanced Language Arts
Dani Hurlbutt - 8th Grade Science
Dani joined our SMS Family last year. Prior to teaching, she had a plethora of outside experiences she now applies to the classroom. (working on a farm, studying abroad, teaching outdoor education, etc.). She is originally from Wisconsin and is proud to be a cheesehead. She has 3 roommates in Fort Collins and refers to their set up like the Big Bang Theory in real life. When not hanging with kids in the classroom or on the track, Dani can be found hanging outside with her dog, Bear, while drinking tea.
Laura Johnston - 8th Grade Language Arts
Laura was here the first year SMS opened its doors and taught 8th grade ELA and SS before moving fully into ELA. She took a “walkabout” for a little over a year and then re-joined the 8th grade in 2019-20 to teach ELA. She loves Star Wars, books, movies, and kids! Laura is married and has a daughter who is in 7th grade here at SMS. She is even a co-author of children’s books, a developmental editor for novels, and co-founded a game design company that has released a WWII card game!
Traisha LaPorte - 8th Grade Language Arts
Joined SMS 2 years ago from Windsor Charter. She will teach LA and several electives in the liberal arts world (Speech and Debate, Creative Writing, and Film Studies). She is married and just bought a new home and LOVES her fur babies! She likes Star Wars, LOTR, Harry Potter, anything John Hughes ever made. Oh and anything matcha.
Chuck Luce - 8th Grade Social Studies
Didn’t open the building, but pretty close. Chuck has taught 8th grade LA and several electives. He moved last year to SS and will be teaching some photography classes for 8th graders too. Chuck is our visionary and is passionate about giving students authentic ways to engage with content. Married to an educator and has two wonderful children. He loves the outdoors and pretty much all sports. Also it would be tough to pry a good book out of his hands as well.
Molly Martinez - 8th Grade Math | Empower
Jason Oleskevich - 8th Grade Social Studies
Jason was part of the team that opened SMS 13 years ago. He has taught 6th grade SS, 8th grade SS, many electives, as well as being the Dean of Students when the building opened. He was offered an opportunity to work in the “real world” but missed students and returned 1 year later as an 8th-grade team member. This is now his fourth year back on the team. Very tech-savvy, a great listener and likes pizza and coffee. Married and has a 9th-grade daughter.
Alex Perez - 8th Grade Math
This will be Alex’s second year as an 8th grade math teacher at SMS. She is a Colorado Native (grew up in Windsor), who loves being outside with her husband and two kids! Outside of teaching, she coaches softball at Severance High School and boys basketball here at the middle school. She loves sports, coffee and a good book to read!
