Staying in Touch
School Year 2023-2024
Successful Students Stay in Contact
Students are required to contact at least one teacher every week, between Sunday and Saturday. Maintaining weekly contact is one of the requirements of each WSLP Progress Check, and failing to do so could result in your being marked at Unsatisfactory for the month.
Students should also expect to have at least one synchronous (live), individual contact with a teacher every month, which is another piece of our WSLP Progress Check criteria. This contact will be with either your homeroom teacher or one of your content teachers.
When we talk about contact, LiveLesson and phone are preferred, but WebMail and text do count as contact in a pinch.
Successful students contact their teachers the moment they have questions so that they do not get stuck, frustrated, or behind. We recommend that you contact teachers as soon as you need to. We’re here to help!
Where do I find my teacher's contact information?
Remember, you need to make contact every week and need to have a live contact every month.
How Do I Send a WebMail to a Teacher or Administrator Who Is Not On My List?
What happens if I miss contact?
Week One - your Learning Coach will receive an alert from our Attendance Team that contact was missed
Week Two - your Learning Coach will receive an alert from our Attendance Team that contact was missed
Week Three - your Learning Coach will receive a call from a member of our Attendance Team to discuss the accumulated weeks of missed contact and discuss a plan to keep any more weeks from happening
Week Four - you are now Truant and will be marked as Unsatisfactory for the month - your Learning Coach will receive a call from a member of our Attendance Team to discuss what will happen if further weeks are missed
Week Five - your Learning Coach will receive a call from your principal
Week Six - you will be withdrawn from our school for truancy
How do I keep from being truant?
If you need to, you can have your Learning Coach create an event on your Planner, on Thursday afternoon, for example, saying "did you make contact this week?" That can act as a reminder to make contact if you have not attended a LiveLesson or had a phone call with a teacher yet that week.
