Coal is a non renewable resource because it takes millions of years to form. Coal is a fossil fuel formed from the remains of plants that lived and died millions of years ago.The energy we get from coal today came from the energy that plants absorbed from the sun millions of years ago.
Where is coal found on earth
Coal is found under ground. people who mine coal use two methods: surface mining and underground mining. In surface mining, the topsoil and layers of rock are removed to expose large deposits of coal. The coal is then removed by huge machines. In underground mining to remove coal from underground mines, miners are transported down mine shafts to run machines that dig out the coal.
How does coal produce energy
The energy in coal came from the energy from the sun millions of years ago. Almost 92 percent of the coal mined in the U.S. today is used to make electricity. Very little coal is used for heating homes and buildings. Paper, brick, limestone, and cement industries all use coal to make products.
What are some by products of coal
coal is used for many things such and heating and the creating of many stones. Coal can be used to make paper, brick, limestone, and cement. also coal is used for grill cooking and heating.
Who uses coal now
About 92 percent of the coal mined in the U.S. today is used to make electricity. that is the main thing coal is used for. Also cement companys and company the make diffrent stones use coal to make their product.

Coal is one of the cheapest forms of energy. Most forms of coal are currently about $40-50 per ton.
