November is Generation Texas Month
DECISION OF RESPECT SIGNING DAY! OCTOBER 6, 2023
On this day, students, staff and parents across Northside ISD signed certificates to demonstrate respect for themselves and all others through their interactions at school.
Once students signed, teachers placed the certificates in their classroom so it can be referred to throughout the year as a reminder for all to treat each other and ourselves with respect.

Thursday, November 16th: 5th Grade Elective Showcase at Pat Neff Middle School!!
- 5th-grade students will visit Neff Cafeteria to watch and listen to their performing ensembles!
- Please ask your 5th grader for their permission forms to visit the school.
- The campus visit will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on 11/16/23.

In-Person Texan Elective Fair - Tuesday, November. 28th 5:30 - 7:00 PM
All 6th-grade elective teachers at Pat Neff Middle School will be in the cafeteria and gym to promote their content and classes.
Neff will have dinner and drinks provided for the parents and students! BBQ burgers and hot dogs!
Parents and students are encouraged to roam around to each of the tables to meet and greet the teachers.
Parents and students should leave with an idea of what elective to sign up for.

A Bug & A Wish by Karen Scheuer
During this lesson, students learned how to solve small problems in a respectful way by using the BUG and WISH statement. They also wrote down their own BUG and WISH statements to share at home.
How Do Dinosaurs Stay Safe: A Book About Safety
Students listened to the story, How Do Dinosaurs Stay Safe and understood the importance of safe practices at home, in the community and at school. PreK and Kinder students were able to identify 3 safe people they can talk to.
Discussion questions:
What does the word safe mean?
How are you safe each day?
What is a trusted adult?
Who are trusted adults around you?

Our classes are led by our parent/community volunteer, Mrs. Courtney Barrie. We love seeing our 3rd-5th graders participate and cannot wait to see our other grades participate after Christmas break!
