The Compass Rose: 10/14
Principal's Message
To the East Elementary School community:
This morning I was joined by Superintendent Adams for a learning-walk through our classrooms and learning spaces. The practice of being present in classrooms often is something I'm passionate about for many reasons and I was happy to participate in this with Superintendent Adams and highlight elements of great instruction here at East.
Being present in our learning spaces daily allows for engagement opportunities with our students and educators, allows us to stay updated on curriculum & classroom content, provides us the ability to see trends over time, and affords us opportunities to offer instructional coaching with an added layer of validity knowing that we aren't merely there for observations. Dr. Donovan (our Assistant Principal) and I also participate in monthly learning-walks together, using these to calibrate our expectations, identify both highlights and focus areas, and track growth over the year.
We have high expectations for East and are proud to support the work our educators put in to uphold those expectations!

Preschool Screenings
Under federal and state special education regulations, Hingham Public Schools (HPS) has a responsibility to locate, identify, refer, evaluate, and if eligible, provide a free, appropriate, public education to students with disabilities who reside in the town of Hingham. For this purpose, we offer screenings twice per year, in November and February. Our first screening of the 2022-2023 school year will take place on Thursday, November 3rd at East Elementary School. If you would like your child screened, please call Darcy Greene, Administrative Assistant at 781-741-1570, x4967 or email dgreene@hinghamschools.org.
