PEINE FAMILIES- 2020/21
PLEASE KNOW-changes can happen and we will notify you ASAP if they do!
Message from Dr. Andrews
Welcome to 2020-21!
As we plan for a beginning like no other we have seen in the past, our focus will still be to ensure that:
every child, every day is finding a way to feel connected,
every child, every day is being challenged by new learnings and experiences,
and every child, every day knows they have a champion they can turn to.
Spring of 2020 has challenged staff and students to find a new normal for learning, connected us in new ways, and required our Scholars to champion from afar. What I have most learned through this process is how much I appreciate the expertise our teachers bring to PRE, the ways in which our students continue to work hard to grow and overall, appreciation for the little things in life, giving a high five, a hug or being able to laugh out loud with a room full of people.
What I MOST appreciate about PRE is how even under crazy circumstances we have never experienced we are still a learning and caring community.
Normal is such a simple word and it is our goal at PRE to not only find our new normal but to use this time as a learning experience that will forever impact the learning environment of PRE. Our fall may not be “normal,” but our learning will not only continue, but it will thrive. We can’t wait to move on to the next phase of learning under Covid-19 and we know, all returning and new students to PRE will be welcomed with open arms (from 6 feet away) to our community - we will continue to grow!

Peine Ridge Elementary's kindergarten orientation will be held on Thursday, August 20th, during our Meet The Teacher Virtual Event. On this day, your kindergartener will have the opportunity to meet their teacher, virtually explore their new classroom, and get familiar with the building their peers. Each teacher will also send each class a personal video with a tour of the building and their classroom.

Doors will open at 8:05 am. Unfortunately, due to our current situation parents will not be allowed in the building. Staff members will be stationed throughout the hallways to help students get to their designated classrooms. Please have your children watch the virtual tour from their teachers (will be sent through email).

Breakfast from 8:05 am-8:20 am
Dismissal begins at 3:15 pm
LEVEL 2 KEY POINTS
Here are some key points to keep in mind related to Phase 2:
WSD plans to begin the school year in Level 2 and remain there throughout the first quarter.
If needed, we could potentially move to Level 3 during that time.
Students attend in-person on Monday & Tuesday or on Thursday & Friday.
AA (Monday/Tuesday) students are identified by the first letter of the last name of the oldest sibling in a household (A-L); all siblings in the household (regardless of last name) will be AA students;
BB (Thursday/Friday) students are identified by the first letter of the last name of the oldest sibling in a household (M-Z); all siblings in the household (regardless of last name) will be BB students;
DAYS CAN NOT be switched
All students attend virtually on Wednesdays.
Student attendance in classrooms will be approximately 50%.
Elementary students will follow their typical schedules during in-person attendance days.
Students will access learning activities virtually from home three days a week.
Virtual instruction will include learning activities assigned by the teacher and live instruction on Wednesdays.
Elementary special area classes and intervention services will occur in homerooms.
WSD Virtual Academy students will remain in their enrolled grade level and courses regardless of what level the District is at for in-person learning. Schedule adjustments could occur based on building schedule adjustments.
All students and staff will continue to complete a health screening before coming to school or work.
Students in grades 3-6 and all staff members will be required to wear face coverings when physical distancing is not feasible. Students in PreK-grade 2 are permitted to wear face coverings (not required).
To avoid large groups of students gathering in one place, we will adjust the way students move between classrooms and other spaces in our schools.
Students will eat in their classrooms. Lunch options will be chosen in the mornings and collected by cafe staff. All lunch items will be completely disposable.
Full-day Chautauqua care will be offered based on available space and staff.
Meet the Teacher Night
This event will be on Thursday, August 20th, beginning @ 5:00 pm and ending at 7:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to meet your teacher, see your classroom, and talk to some friends. We hope to see you there! THIS WILL ALL BE DONE VIRTUALLY, however, it will still be GREAT!
Each classroom will have 2 different sessions- please join at the start time to ensure you receive all the info you want to know. You will receive an invite from your teacher to join the virtual meeting.
Times and virtual links will be provided by your child's teacher.
School Supplies and getting them to school!
Plan on bringing crayons, pencils, and one notebook to school on the 1st day as a starter set.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures- IMPORTANT
Please click HERE for more details.
This is an important reminder of the drop-off and pick-up procedures that we will enforce for the safety and efficiency of the students and parents at Peine Ridge. Staff supervision and student drop-off begin at 8:05 a.m. If you arrive early, please wait with your child(ren) until 8:05 am to assure that they are supervised. Parents should not drop students off in the parking lot in order to avoid the drop-off line. Parents are not allowed to park in the parking lot and walk their children to the door (This is new due to COVID-19 restrictions).
***IMPORTANT *** Due to student safety, students who walk home from school will not be able to meet their parents at the front of the building. Parents will need to meet their children at the designated crosswalk. If you are picking up your child by car, then you need to utilize the splash station pick-up line.
Walkers- Walkers are defined as students who walk home on their own without a parent/guardian. These students will be dismissed and will either travel home alone or meet their parent/guardian at a designated crosswalk. The parking lot is not a designated crosswalk and is extremely dangerous for students to walk through unattended. Please do not bypass the carline for convenience and put your child and others in danger.
Walk-ups- PEINE RIDGE WILL NO LONGER HAVE parents park and then proceed to pick up their children. Students will either walk out to the designated sidewalk (Parents can meet their children there) or the students will be picked up through the car-rider line.
Car Riders- Car Riders are defined as students who will have parents/guardians who will utilize our car rider line to drive through and pick their child up. This is the most efficient way if a parent is coming to pick their child up. The line might look long but it moves quickly.
We will continue using the Splash Station access road to line up cars for drop-off and pick-up. Rather than entering on the Peine Ridge lot, cars will enter Splash Station’s entrance, loop around the back of Splash Station and form a double line on the access road in the morning and afternoon. Cars will take turns to get into a single line onto Peine property and pick-up their child(ren) as usual. The access road gates will be opened before 8 am in the morning and after bike riders and walkers leave in the afternoon.
A smooth and efficient procedure takes all of us working together. I appreciate and expect all parents to follow the outlined procedures.

WSD Mobile App
The Wentzville School District has announced the launch of the WSD App, an all-in-one information source for parents, students, staff and community members. Created by ParentLink, the app was developed specifically to provide direct access to the District’s most sought-after information in the most convenient format – a mobile device. It allows users to view news stories, calendar information, send messages on a tip line, and receive important alerts – all on their smart phone.
The app is free and can be downloaded from the Apple Store or the Google Play store. Simply search for - Wentzville School District. “We know all parties -- students, parents, community, and staff - will find great value in this app,” said ParentLink President John Graff. “We are excited to provide the WSD community with a mobile resource to make collaborating with their local schools an enjoyable and easy part of their busy schedules."
