Principal's Weekly e-Newsletter
Thank you to everyone that was able to join us for a heartfelt farewell to Mrs. Maeda. She felt the TMA love! Thank you to our PTO for making this happen. It definitely was a team effort.
I appreciate your patience as we work to place students into classes. I had hoped to get you this information by Wednesday, however it was a much more intensive process than expected. Over 80% of our families requested AM. The majority noted "work schedule" as the primary reason and that they had no other options than to be placed in the AM. It was simply not possible to meet every family's request for the AM schedule. I want to be transparent in the process we used. Families that requested the PM schedule were placed first. The families that requested AM, or did not respond to the survey were placed by lottery. Names were then entered into a random list generator. This list was used to place families according to their request/need as space allowed. All students in a family were placed in the same session. You will receive an Aeries message on Monday from me indicating your family's placement in the AM or PM session.
Knowing that family situations may have changed since the initial survey, I will include 2 surveys in Monday's email notifying you of your family's schedule placement.
- The first survey is for families that were placed on the AM schedule, but are able to now make a PM placement work, opening up a spot for a PM family that NEEDS the AM schedule.
- The second survey will be for PM families to sign up on a wait list to be placed in the first available AM opening.
I am unable to guarantee that we will be able to make all AM/PM changes, however this survey will give us the information needed so that if we can, we will.
It would be prudent for all families to research options such as YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, Salvation Army, CDC, or private care options. Some families are looking to team together to hire in home support as well. Tustin Buzz is a great networking tool for those of you on Facebook. These continue to be unprecedented times and we will get through this together.
Important Dates:
- School starts August 13
- Virtual Back to School Night dates will provided next Friday in the Principal's eNewsletter.
- Device Distribution will be August 10 & 11 by appointment only. Students will need access to their own dedicated device for distance learning. Students that do not have access to a device need to complete this survey: https://forms.gle/6pfgw92izhzQXYR36. If your child was provided a device for distance learning last year, you should still have that device and do not need to resubmit a device request.
Have a FABULOUS weekend!
